£300,000 boost for Preston cycling project
Efforts to create a new 'green' walking and cycling route around the city of Preston have received £300,000 from the Forestry Commission.
Plans for the Preston Guild Wheel will see a 21-mile (33.8km) circular route will provide an environmentally-friendly transport network for the city. Subject to local authority approval on 16 December, the funding will also be used to help improve access to six areas of woodlands along the proposed route.
The cash will also fund nearly 2.2 miles (3.5km) of cycleway and other equipment.
