£75m regeneration masterplan for Pontypridd
Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) County Borough Council has announced its ambition to attract more visitors to Pontypridd after unveiling a £75m regeneration masterplan for the town.
Public and private sector-led schemes are helping to transform the South Wales town, which the local authority believes will ensure it becomes a "major destination" in the valleys. RCT leader Russell Robert said: "This is a momentous plan for Pontypridd as steadily we begin to see the first phases of regeneration nearing completion in the town centre.
"Our long-term plan is to ensure the current regeneration work is a catalyst to generate local employment opportunities, increase the amount of visitors, create stronger and more diverse businesses, and foster a vibrant and sustainable economic centre." Work has included a £10m investment in revamping the streetscape and the revitalisation of commercial properties, as well as retail and travel developments.
