Peel Holdings, part of property and transport company Peel Group, has submitted plans for a £8.5m, 100-bed hotel at its Durham Tees Valley Airport in Durham. The property will be Peel's third airport hotel, and the second to open this year.
The three-star hotel will feature a bar, restaurant and meeting rooms. Peter de la Perrelle, director of Peel Holdings (Leisure), said: "This new hotel continues peel's re-focused strategy of owning and operating its hotel investments with international brands a its partners."
The group's first hotel is due to open in November 2008 under the Ramada Encore brand at Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield. The second planned property will launch Spring 2009 at Liverpool John Lennon Airport in Liverpool, it is unknown who will brand the two remaining hotels.
The Peel Group consists of four divisions: The Trafford Centre in Manchester, Peel Land & Property, Peel Airports and Peel Ports.
