£1.2bn Water Garden City development in Bahrain
HOK architects have revealed the masterplan designs for the £1.2bn Water Garden City mixed-use development adjacent to the capital of Bahrain, Al Manamah, in the Persian Gulf.
The 148-acre scheme, being developed by Albilad Real Estate, will include 23.7million sq ft (2.2million sq m) of commercial, leisure and residential space, featuring four hotels, a luxury private island spa and a beach park. Other features include a marina, schools and commercial, leisure and retail facilities for its community of 40,000 people, including a large entertainment centre in the middle of Bahrain Bay.
HOK is working in collaboration with architects Scott Wilson. Zeyad Janahi of Albilad Real Estate said: “Our vision for Bahrain Water Garden City is to create a leading commercial development, attracting business travellers from across the globe.
"We want to develop a city that offers the best in commercial and residential facilities at the heart of the country and we are very proud of the work of HOK and Scott Wilson in helping us to translate this vision into reality.”
