2010 launch for US F1 team
A proposed new Formula One team based in the United States is set to launch in 2010, according to the two men behind the project, Peter Windsor and Ken Anderson.
Speaking at a press conference to unveil the scheme, Windsor and Anderson revealed that Charlotte, North Carolina, will be the home of the USF1 team, with European facilities likely to be located in Spain. Drivers and engine suppliers are yet to be decided, but the duo believes that the current economic slump will help in making the new team a reality, while the high number of Grand Prix events held outside Europe means that no logistical problems are anticipated.
Anderson said: "Most of the technology in F1 comes from the US to begin with, and on the logistics side, this year less than half the races take place in Europe so there is less reason for being there. And the cost of doing business in the US is significantly lower than in Europe."
