2012 Artist Rooms Tour announced
Banff, Glasgow, Leicester and Wakefield are among some of the UK towns and cities set to host 19 new art exhibitions and displays next year as part of the 2012 Artist Rooms Tour.
Belfast; Bristol; Dunoon; Hull; Linlithgow; Liverpool; Middlesbrough; Perth; Sheffield; and Walsall are also included in the line-up, with works drawn from the Artist Rooms collection. National Galleries of Scotland and Tate are behind the fourth successive tour, which aims to bring modern and contemporary art to locations outside the UK capital cities.
Works donated to Artist Rooms for next year's tour have been provided by Vija Celmins and Alex Katz, as well as Martin Creed - the first new contemporary artist to join the collection. Meanwhile, a new online resource has been launched to accompany Artist Rooms in order to allow young audiences to put together their own virtual exhibitions.
The tour is supported by the Art Fund. Details: www.tate.org.uk
