30m angel heralds NI Centre
The NI Centre, a £25m urban retail and leisure development in Islington, north London, is now fully let and open to the public.
The leisure and restaurant area, situated opposite the Angel tube station, totals 8700sq m and is set alongside a 3950sq m multiplex cinema. The centre is built around a newly created public space that will house its own 10m high metallic angel from September.
Designed by architects, Chapman Taylor, the restaurants can serve both daytime shoppers and nighttime visitors. Most of the leisure elements are accommodated on the upper levels centred around the 9-screen Warner Village cinema. A live music venue is being run by the Marquee Club (that operated in London's Soho until the early 1990's.)
The £2.5m cinema fit-out is the tenth that Chapman Taylor has designed for Warner Village. Details: www.chapmantaylor.com
