3G pitch among council spending plans
A new 3G sports pitch could be developed in Netherdale, Galashiels, if Scottish Borders Council (SBC) backs a further £17m investment in the local capital spending plan.
Councillors will meet on 22 April to consider a review of its spending plan, which could see the start of £6.4m worth of projects in 2010-11 and an additional £10.6m worth over the next four years. The Netherdale 3G sports pitch is one of a number of schemes that could be set for the green light if SBC approves the proposals, as well as a new bus station for Galashiels.
SBC leader David Parker, said: "The council's administration has carried out the most comprehensive review of our capital funding for some time. "The projects that we are recommending will impact on every service of the council but will significantly boost the Borders economy and our spending on roads, especially in 2010/11."
