6.5m euro sports facility opens in Dublin
A 6.5m euro sports facility has opened in Dublin today, beside Ringsend Park in Irishtown.
Facilities at the stadium include a 400m floodlit athletics track, a resurfaced soccer pitch, a state of the art pavilion including studios and a gym and five, five-a-side all-weather, floodlit pitches that can be used for either football or basketball.
Funding for the project was provided by Dublin City Council, Dublin Docklands Development Authority and the Department of Arts, Sports and Tourism under the Sports Capital Grants Scheme.
The new stadium is primarily aimed at the young people of the surrounding areas of Ringsend, Irishtown, Sandymount and Pearse Street and will be used by the local soccer clubs and schools.
The facilities will also be available to the general public.
