£8m casino scheme for Hippodrome
A planning application has been submitted to Westminster Council for the restoration of the Hippodrome in Leicester Square.
The £8m scheme proposed by United Leisure Gaming would see the Grade II listed building – which currently houses a nightclub – revamped to boast a casino, card room, cabaret performance area, restaurant, bar and luxury hospitality suite.
The architects for the project are London-based Scott Brownrigg, who plan to retain and restore many of the building’s original features.
If the planning application is successful, United Leisure Gaming plans to open the site on a membership basis in early 2008.
United Leisure Gaming has formed the company Hippodrome Casino to manage the operations and premises.
