£8m spa to open in Switzerland
The Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa in the mountain resort of Interlaken, Switzerland, has opened its new £8m spa extension.
The facility has been designed in association with ESPA, the management consultancy specialising in five-star spas.
New amenities include hot and cold treatment zones, lifestyle showers, saunas, relaxation areas, 16 treatment rooms each with an outdoor sun terrace and a new spa bar.
There is also an exclusive, self-contained private spa, designed to attract honeymooners and couples looking for total seclusion. The private spa features its own sauna, a private changing area, two-person steam shower and a deep-water couples bath.
For 2004, a new range of holistic massages and body wraps has been developed by ESPA exclusively for the Victoria-Jungfrau.
Emmanuel Berger, general manager at the hotel, said: “We have long been associated with health and well-being. Our original health club and spa is recognised internationally and with the introduction of this additional facility we are set to establish ourselves as a leading centre for health and beauty.”
A historic five-star property, Victoria-Jungfrau dates back to 1865. The town of Interlaken itself is perhaps most famous for being used as location for the James Bond movie, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Details: www.victoria-jungfrau.ch
