Budget hotel chain Travelodge has created a series of window transfers so it can offer guests a room with a view.

The company surveyed more than 2,500 people to discover what the UK’s favourite view from a hotel room is.

The top 10 included a Caribbean beach, the Northern Lights, Niagara Falls, blue skies and sunshine, Lake Windermere, a Manhatten Skyline, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Ayers Rock, the Pyramids and the Taj Mahal.

The window transfers will be piloted at London City Airport Travelodge and, if successful, will be rolled out to all Travelodge’s sites.

Guests will also be able to buy their favourite view for use at home or while travelling.

Wayne Munnelly, Travelodge’s sleep director, said: “97 per cent of Brits said that a wonderful view is uplifting and makes them feel happier and we always like to keep our customers happy. So we thought it would be a nice idea to give our guests a choice of their favourite views while staying at a Travelodge hotel. They can choose any view from the nations top ten list.”

In the survey, England was voted the country with the most beautiful views in the world, followed by Scotland, Ireland, Thailand, New Zealand and Canada.
