A big push from LivingWell
Members of LivingWell gyms in the UK, Australia and Brazil will attempt to lift the equivalent weight of the Eiffel Tower in bid to raise money for charity and encourage resistance training.
The Big Push is an international chest press challenge, which will see members of all ages and abilities bench-press a pre-agreed safe amount of weight to help lift a combined weight of 10 million kilos.
Taking place at more than 80 LivingWell clubs, the event will also serve to educate members particularly women, on the importance of weight training in a exercise routine, says LlivingWell’s health and fitness director, Michael Clark.
“Weights are traditionally associated with bulking up and building muscle, and therefore a large sector of our membership refrains from incorporating any resistance training in their programme,” she said.
The money raised from the event will be donated to the children’s charity Whizz-Kidz and the Hilton Foundation Disaster Relief fund.
