A centre for future talent
A new Athletic Performance Centre dedicated to functional fitness has been launched in Deeside by Power for Sports Ltd, the company founded by strength and conditioning expert Mark Lewin.
The 600sq m (6,500sq ft) centre, based in a former bakery, has been developed in partnership with Life Fitness, Escape Fitness and supplement company EAS.
The strength and power zone includes 13 pieces of Hammer Strength equipment, dumb-bells and Olympic discs, while the speed and plyometric Zone features a 20m sprint lane with deceleration squares at either end.
The functional training zone offers Bosus, Indo Boards and Bodyblades and the combat conditioning area features boxing bags and pads from Lonsdale.
The club’s focus is not purely on elite athletes, but also on developing future talent. Lewin says: “I am currently working with a group of under-16 golfers and am speaking to local sport development officers and schools in the area.”
