ACE announces latest fund recipients
Collections of Cornish art being exhibited in London and improved access to Museums Sheffield's archaeology collection will be made possible, thanks to the latest round of funding from the Arts Council England (ACE) Renaissance Strategic support fund.
As well as announcing the latest round of recipients, ACE has this week opened applications to the 2013/14 Renaissance Strategic support fund.
Twenty-five projects also received funding through the Designation development fund; including Leeds City Museum, to create better public access and engagement with its study collection of bird skins. The Weald and Downland Museum will use its share of funding to celebrate the art of thatching, with activities centred on the demonstration of the craft, education and themes of sustainability.
The aim of the funds is to make museums more resilient and sustainable and help them to engage with wider audiences. Chief executive of Arts Council England, Alan Davey, says: "The Renaissance Strategic support and Designation development funds will help museums to become more resilient and more ambitious, exploring original ways for people to engage with collections, and attracting even wider. Their sheer variety demands different kinds of support to help them make the most of their outstanding collections and work."
