Aberdeen leisure complex gets go ahead
Construction is due to begin in April on Kenmore Property Group’s mixed-use leisure complex at Shiprow in Aberdeen.
This follows the approval given by Aberdeen City Council of a gaming licence for Rank Group Gaming Division’s casino at the site.
Together with a 107-bedroom Ibis Hotel, and the existing leisure facilities on the opposite side of Shiprow, the 25,000sq ft (2,300sq m) casino will act as the £28m (41m euro) scheme’s main anchor. Additional space being developed speculatively comprises five bar/restaurant units, 30,000sq ft (2,800sq m) of offices and a refurbished 400-space car park.
Aberdeen City Council Leader, Kate Dean, welcomed the news: “This is a further strategic step in the improvement of Aberdeen city centre and comes on the back of the recently approved plans to extend the nearby Bon Accord Centre. Together these will reinforce Aberdeen as a vibrant retailing and leisure destination.”
