Following two years of rebranding and having doubled in size, fitness charity Active Nation is continuing with its mission to get the nation active and has signed a four-year deal with leading fitness supplier Precor to install cardio and strength equipment.

Active Nation, a charity that works with a number of councils, now runs a total of 17 sites across the UK, ten with gyms and ranging from outdoor sports facilities including sailing, climbing and kayaking, tennis centres, swimming pools and even two alpine snowsports ski slope centres. Over the past few years the company has dramatically increased and improved its facilities and the sport, health and exercise services it offers.

Stuart Martin, Group Commercial Manager at Active Nation comments: "Having acquired seven new sites, five of those with gyms, over the last couple of years, we were looking to provide a more cohesive look across our sites. Precor's quality equipment is competitively priced and offers a high level of innovation. As we run a variety of establishments we were also looking for added value opportunities and the brands available from Precor's parent company, Amer Sports, allow us to explore future link ups that could benefit our portfolio of sites."

The first site to benefit from a Precor installation and a refurbishment will be Bitterne Leisure Centre in Southampton. Due to complete in July, it will feature the recently launched Precor AMT with Open Stride, strength units from the space saving Experience S-Line range and functional pieces from the Icarian range. Active Nation plans to redevelop eight sites throughout 2012.

Jez Whitling, Director of Sales at Precor said: "This is an exciting time for Active Nation as the company has grown significantly over the last couple of years. They were looking for a fitness supplier that could not only offer premium equipment for its gyms, but also a company that could allow them to continue to improve their whole offering to the public across the variety of fitness and sport they provide. We are looking forward to working closely with the team to develop their business."
