Active Nation supporters make a splash at Brinscall
The Brinscall community has been diving back in time to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Brinscall Swimming Baths.
To commemorate the landmark birthday Active Nation, who manage the facility on behalf of Chorley Council, organised an incredible day of celebrations with over 200 supporters putting on their 1911 swim suits and making a splash!
The pool has remained a focal point of the local community since it first opened on 22nd June 1911, it was built to commemorate the coronation of King George V, which also took place on the same day.
The landmark now proudly boasts to be the third oldest public swimming pool in daily use in the country.
In 2008, Chorley Council spent £190,000 to upgrade many of the facilities and make the building more energy efficient for future generations.
Councillor John Walker, who is responsible for leisure facilities in Chorley, said: "Local people have been using the facilities for years with many generations of the same family learning to swim here."
