Acton Baths to close until spring 2014
Ealing Council has announced that Acton Baths will close to the public on 4 December until spring 2014 as part of its plans for a major redevelopment of Acton Town Hall, London.
The local authority said it will assist existing members and user groups in finding alternative facilities to use during the closure, with some activities set to move to nearby leisure venues.
A 25m swimming pool; a teaching pool; a large gym; and other leisure facilities are currently being proposed for the multi-million pound regeneration of the Acton Town Hall complex.
S&P Architects are working with Ealing Council on the plans for the scheme, which will see a library; community spaces; and offices for the local authority also included.
Ealing Council leader Julian Bell said: "When complete, it will be a fantastic asset for this part of the borough, providing modern leisure and community facilities for the community.
"Unfortunately, the baths will have to close for a while, but I hope that people will agree that it was worth the wait when they see the finished result."
