Ageing rock stars boost concert sales
Concert receipts have reached record levels for the fourth year running in America, as veteran bands helped drive record ticket sales.
The three highest earners were Sir Paul McCartney with £64m, the Rolling Stones with £55m and Cher with £46m. Other headline acts, which helped boost sales included as Billy Joel, Sir Elton John, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Diamond.
The number of ageing bands drawing fans is a cause of concern, however, as industry insiders question where the next generation of headlining acts will come from.
