Airports close amid snow storm
Severe weather in the south of England forced the closure of Gatwick and Luton airports on early Friday morning (18 December).
A number of flights out of Luton were cancelled as the snow-covered runways were deemed unsafe for both departing and landing aircraft.
Although flights have resumed at Luton Airport, a spokesperson said all RyanAir flights have been cancelled while a number of Whizz and EasyJet flights have also been grounded.
Gatwick airport has since reopened, although passengers have been told to expect delays.
