Xtreme Boot Camps, a spin-off the independently-owned Xtreme Gyms, has signed up former mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and celebrity Alex Reid as a visiting trainer.

The winner of the 2010 edition of Celebrity Big Brother – who established himself as one of the UK’s most popular MMA fighters during a 16-year career – will join the Xtreme team immediately and will take part at the next boot camp in October.

The week-long Xtreme Boot Camps – held at the Malvern St. James School in Worcestershire – consist of daily training regimes, combining gym-based workouts with intensive outdoor fitness activities.

Xtreme Boot Camps was set up in October 2013 by mother and son team, Zoe and James Evans – who also run the Xtreme Gym in Stratord-upon-Avon.

Reid has recently developed a fat burning, toning and combat workout system based on MMA conditioning, which he is currently rolling out across gyms in London. The programme will now feature at the boot camps.

James Evans, co-founder and trainer at Xtreme Boot Camps, said: “Alex will be joining the team and using his martial arts skills to add a new dimension to the training programme on offer.

“Having Alex join our training team adds an additional dynamic to what we offer at Xtreme Boot Camps.”

Commenting on the partnership, Reid said: “I have used my methods to keep me fit, not just for my sport but for health. My main passions and interests have always been in wellbeing and longevity and of course to help people change their lives.

“I've done this by creating what I think is the only fitness programme you'll ever need and am so excited to bring this to Xtreme Boot Camps.”

The partnership isn’t Reid’s first foray into the fitness sector. In 2012, he signed up a joint venture agreement with the énergie Group to set up a chain of Alex Reid Academies.
