The UK's largest health charity Nuffield Health will be using AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill for its exercise and rehabilitation sessions.

Nuffield Health, which provides medical, wellbeing and fitness services, carried out an eight-month trial of the equipment at its clinics.

The Alter-G treadmill, developed using NASA technology, uses differential air pressure. This can 'reduce' up to 80 per cent of a person’s body weight, allowing for stable support during fitness rehabilitation.  

The machines were used by athletes during the London 2012 Olympics and is also going to be installed at the National Football Centre at St. George's Park in Burton-Upon-Trent.

With hundreds of installations at sports centres in the US, the machine works by reducing the user's body weight, so the load going through their knees and their ankles is less. This means the body doesn’t need to work so hard for a good training effect.
