Anheuser wins battle for Harbin
St. Louis-based Anheuser Busch is set to buy the Harbin Brewery Group of China.
This follows the withdrawal on 3 June from the month-long takeover battle of rival SABMiller and the company's decision to sell its own 29 per cent holding in Harbin to Anheuser.
The US company will pay HK$5.58 per share for the approximately 60 per cent of Harbin shares which it does not at present own.
Anheuser Busch already has a stake in the Chinese brewing industry, holding a 9.9 per cent stake in the Tsingtao Brewery Co. and owning 97 per cent of the Budweiser Wuhan International Brewing Co. in Wuhan.
