Residents of the Braintree District, keen to lead healthier lifestyles, look set to benefit from a £1 million investment into Council-owned sport and leisure facilities thanks to the appointment of Fusion Lifestyle.

Fusion Lifestyle, a registered charity specialising in providing high quality community sport and active leisure services, was appointed by Braintree District Council to manage and operate all five of its leisure centres and sports facilities from 1st September 2012.

Fusion now manages Bramston Sports Centre, Bramston Sports Ground, Braintree Swimming Centre, Braintree Leisure Centre and Halstead Leisure Centre and will take over the management of the new Witham Leisure Centre when it opens.

Cllr Joanne Beavis, Cabinet Member for People commented: "In this Olympic year, I am delighted to welcome Fusion Lifestyle as our leisure partner. This contract offers the best deal for our residents, with investment into new fitness equipment and additional fitness facilities in the Braintree area. Our continued partnership with local schools and sports clubs is also a key feature of the new contract."

Over the coming months, Fusion, alongside Braintree District Council, will begin work on a £1million investment programme into new and existing facilities throughout the Braintree District.

Peter Kay, Fusion's Chief Executive said, "Braintree District Council has firm vision for leisure in the district and the team at Fusion is looking forward to delivering some exciting developments over the next few years.  As a registered charity, we are committed to reinvestment, and providing the local community with high quality services at a price people are willing and able to pay".

To ensure customers have a voice, Fusion will hold customer forums soon after they take over management of the centres. The dates for these will be advertised in centres and online (www.braintree-leisure.com) soon after 1st September 2012. Fusion will welcome as many customers as possible to these forums to offer comment and feedback on the current provisions and any suggested additions or recommendations to improve the offer that customers may have.

Established in 2000, Fusion has a strong track record of delivering recreational sport, health and fitness activities for local communities. It now operates 62 sports and leisure centres in London the South East and Midlands.
