Aquarium of the Lakes re-opens
The Aquarium of the Lakes, next to Lake Windermere in the Lake District, re-opens to the public this month after a £600,000 re-development programme.
The investment has been used to create an audio-visual display, which takes visitors on a voyage, first flying above the lakes before diving below the surface. A display area has also been turned into a sunken shipwreck, allowing visitors to view the Aquarium's Lake Windermere tank, which has a new filtration system. As well as this, there is the recreation of a lakeland storm, complete with plasma screens, thunder and lightening and a mini lighthouse.
The investments are designed to make the entire visit much more interactive, said Norman Wild, Aquarium manager.
