Architectural award for Alila group
Alila Hotels and Resorts has received commendation for the design of its new Alila Villas and spa in Uluwatu, Bali, which is scheduled to open early next year.
The Singapore-based architectural firm responsible for the design of the site, WOHA Designs, was recognised under the Retail and Leisure category at the MIPIM Architectural Review Future Project Awards 2007.
The award commends projects that respond with outstanding creativity to the urban context of a project and the needs and aspirations of its target customers.
The Alila Villas project will cover 13.5 hectares and be set on limestone cliffs on the southern coastline of Bali, close to Bali’s famous Uluwatu Temple. The resort development will include extensive spa facilities.
The design of Alila Villas Uluwatu is also WOHA’s first Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) project designed to eventually achieve Green Globe certification.
