Young architects have been invited to apply to join an ‘Architecture for Wellness’ course, with workshops taught by designers from some of the world’s top practices.

Twenty-five places are open for the unique three-month educational programme, which will start in November in Bologna, Italy.

There be 108-hours of lessons, including 60 hour-long workshops in which participants will design their own spa. Meanwhile, representatives from firms including Matteo Thun & Partners, Alberto Apostoli, Foster + Partners and Studio Libeskind will lead special classes. An internship programme at the latter two firms is also planned as part of the course.

Students will learn about “the perceptive and clinical fundamentals of wellness and the planning and technical characteristics of the different elements of wellness spaces.”

Modules will include ‘Psycho-Physical Wellbeing’, ‘Spaces For Physical Activity’, ‘Spaces For The Care Of The Body’, ‘Cases Of Success In Wellness Architecture’, ‘Design With Water’ and ‘Routes of Light And Wellness.’

Special lectures, meanwhile, will include ‘The Spa of the Future’, ‘Children’s Wellness’, “Grotto Sauna: Between Relaxation and Landscape’ and ‘From Moscow To Dubai: Spas from the World.’

According to organiser Yacademy, the course was created with the aim “of shaping designers who are able to give life to refined and captivating architectural experiences that can facilitate and support the search and the achievement of psychophysical wellness.”

The cost of the course is €2,450 (US$2,900, £2,100), with eight scholarships on offer “for the most deserving candidates.”

Lessons will take place over three days each week. The course will be taught in Italian, with translators available.

Those interested in applying are asked to submit a CV, portfolio and motivational letter online. Registration will close on 12 October, with the lessons beginning on 19 November and ending on 18 January 2019.
