Are you up to speed on current hospitality trends?
The BHA has recently published the 2009 edition of Trends and Developments, the association's key annual research publication which analyses and explores a wide range of key statistics and offers key commentary on emerging patterns within the British hospitality industry.
The publication is now in its 12th year and is sponsored by American Express.
The 2009 publication illustrates how, despite the recession, the UK hotel industry is continuing to expand, with over 11,000 rooms opening in 2009 and a further 40,000 planned for the period 2010-2015.
At the same, the publication also points out that the hospitality industry has survived the recession with far fewer casualties than might have been expected in either the hotel or the catering sector.
Bob Cotton, Chief Executive of the BHA commented: "Both hotel and restaurant insolvencies are running at a higher level than in previous years but quick action by operators to cut costs and to boost occupancy and footfall by providing special offers has enabled the vast majority of operators to weather the storm, even if at reduced levels of profitability."
With a wealth of information on world tourism arrivals, tourism and the UK economy, the UK hotel industry, the UK catering industry, food and service management as well as employment and qualifications this is a publication you can't afford to miss.
