Arquitectonica, Studio Collective and Clodagh join forces for US' first EAST hotel
Miami architects Arquitectonica have collaborated with Los Angeles design group Studio Collective and New York’s Clodagh Design for a the first Swire Hotels property in the US.
After three years of planning and construction, the hotel – named EAST, Miami – will open in the Florida on 31 May.
Located in Miami’s Brickell district, the hotel is an anchor for a 5.4m sq ft (502,000sq m) mixed-used development being bankrolled by real estate giant Swire Properties.
EAST, Miami will have 352 guest rooms, 89 residence suites, two restaurants, a poolside bar and lounge, an Asian-inspired rooftop garden, a fitness centre and a 3,300sq ft (305sq m) ballroom. Spa facilities will include a lap pool, spa pool, cold plunge and hot tub.
Described by Swire as “soulfully individual”, the hotel is designed in a modern glass tower, with design both inside and out intended to appeal to “young professionals, cosmopolitan tourists and tech-enabled modern travellers alike” in line with EAST’s other properties in Hong Kong and Beijing.
Restaurants and lounges have been designed by Studio Collective and the guest rooms and public spaces have been overseen by Clodagh. Art curating agency Indiewalls has selected sculptures and artworks that reflect Miami to go on display.
The hotel is located in Brickell City Centre, the US$1.05bn (€885m, £697m) mixed-use development also being designed by Arquitectonica. It will feature fine dining, bars, boutique shops and a cinema spread across nine acres when it opens in Q4 this year.
