Arts Council England, Yorkshire announces arts grants
Arts Council England, Yorkshire has announced its latest rounds of grants for the arts awards.
Thirty-eight projects in Yorkshire and the Humber will receive a total of £430,000.
Pioneer Projects, an arts and health organisation based in High Bentham, will promote its creative workspace in its new building, Looking Well Studios, thanks to a £50,000 grant. A range of artist-led activities and training courses will also be developed to enable Pioneer Projects to thrive and continue its arts and health work in the region.
The Actors’ Workshop Youth Theatre, a performing arts company based in Halifax, plans to spend its £30,000 grant on additional dance staff to improve its facilities for boys dance. It will also work closely with other dance groups, community groups and schools to encourage more boys into dance, raise the profile of the workshop as a boys dance facility and enable it to work with a more diverse range of participants.
York-based Konflux Theatre will tour primary schools in York and Leeds with a new play for primary-school children with its £29,700 grant. The project will develop the company’s professional artistic skills and provide young people with opportunities to experience theatre as part of their learning.
Andy Carver, executive director of the council, said: “Our investment in arts organisations and individual artists is enabling the arts to thrive in Yorkshire. These grants will provide access to high-quality arts for everyone.” Details: www.artscouncil.org.uk
