Arts Council England (ACE) has welcomed the publication of a new strategy that outlines a framework for UK conservation education and skills development over the next five years.
The National Conservation Education and Skills Strategy has been launched by the Institute of Conservation (ICON) in order to promote successful learning and research.
A number of organisations - such as the National Trust, Historic Royal Palaces and English Heritage - have formally endorsed the new strategy, which runs from 2012 until 2016.
It is hoped the document will ensure the ongoing effective care of the UK's cultural heritage and provides a strategic approach to the provision of education, training and research.
ACE director of museums and Renaissance Hedley Swain said: "This strategy will help ensure the protection and preservation of cultural objects for future generations."
