Arts career events held this month
Arts Council England has launched a series of nationwide events as part of its ongoing Young People’s Participatory Theatre (YPPT) project.
The three-year Open Doors initiative aims to develop youth and participatory theatre in a wide range of theatre practice, including circus and street arts.
This month, venues across the country are opening their doors to young people aged 15 plus to showcase and encourage participation in a series of interactive events and workshops highlighting careers in the theatre, particularly backstage, technical and front of house opportunities.
The Arts Council hopes the events will help young would-be theatre careerists to meet arts professionals and find out helpful hints on where to train, what career routes are open to them and how to use their skills in the arts sector.
In addition to the month’s events is the imminent launch of a new interactive website where young people can find local or national advice, information and career guidance.
