Arts funding for Hampshire
Hampshire County Council has announced a grant of £855,500 to independent arts organisations across the county.
Councillor Margaret Snaith, member of th council’s Recreation and Heritage department, said: “We value the arts here in Hampshire, and while the priority for our limited resources has to be the vulnerable across the county, we are keen to promote arts activity in Hampshire that can often improve the wellbeing of individuals.
“In addition, by providing this funding we can help independent organisations survive in an ever competitive market, providing a service that is affordable and accessible to everyone, young and old.”
Organisations benefiting from the funding include Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Havant Arts Centre, Hampshire Dance Trust and the Anvil Arts.
