Ashmolean to reopen in November
The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford is to reopen in November following a £61m transformation.
The new Ashmolean, designed by the architect Rick Mather, will replace all but the original 1845 Cockerell Building.
Thirty nine new galleries, with twice the display space as the former building, will be arranged over five floors, allowing the museum to display thousands of objects previously in storage.
A new education centre, including three new study centres, will be open as well as a new rooftop restaurant.
The Heritage Lottery Fund contributed £15m towards the cost of the revamp.
