A new Asian restaurant called Arami has opened in Newcastle.

Focusing on traditional Bangladeshi cuisine, Arami boasts 80 covers and is situated on Leazes Park Road.

Costing around £500,000 to build, Arami’s interior is spread over three main spaces, incorporating glass chandeliers and natural walnut finishes, and was designed by Neil Wilson.

Owner Omar Uddin said: “We are really excited about opening Arami as we believe it will fill a gap in the market. We are hoping to expand and open a further four sites restaurants in the north east over the next two years.”
