Astor rises from Atlantic’s ashes
London’s Atlantic Bar & Grill will reopen on 3 February as the Astor Bar & Grill following a £200,000 refurbishment.
Oliver Peyton’s Atlantic Bar & Grill went into administration in September last year.
Astor Bar & Grill will be under the management of restaurant consultant Simon Wright and Channel 4 chair Luke Johnson.
The new 200-seat restaurant will feature a 4,000sq ft (372sq m) island bar, an additional members-only bar and an 80-cover private dining room.
The property will be operated under licence from administrators BDO Stoy Hayward until the end of 2006, when the lease on the premises will return to the master landlord, the Crown Estate.
While the Crown Estate intends to redevelop the Regent Palace hotel, it is understood that both Johnson’s team and Peyton are competing to operate the site from the end of this year and are both in discussion with the landlord. Details: www.astorbarandgrill.com
