M*van, the specialist construction company, has landed two UK contracts worth more than £1m.

Firstly, the company has secured the main contract to fit out the interior of the revamped Corinium Museum in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.

M*van’s contract forms part of a large refurbishment project which is currently underway at the attraction.

The expanded museum, which houses one of the finest collections of Roman antiquities in Britain, will re-open in September 2004.

M*van is responsible for a range of works conceived by Yorkshire-based Redman Design Associates. These include balustrades, case plinths, display cases, scenic works, interactives, graphics and flooring.

John Paddock of Cotswold District Council, which awarded the contract, said: "The Corinium Project is a £5.5m undertaking, jointly funded by Cotswold District Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

“Such a major capital redevelopment opportunity only comes around once in a generation and we are very pleased to be working with two innovative companies, M*van and Redman Design Associates, on the redisplay of the Corinium Museum.

“We are very excited about the designs for the new galleries."

M*van is also fitting out the new visitor orientation centre and shop at the Imperial War Museum (IWM) Duxford.

David Hebblethwaite's practice, LONDON bloc Architects designed the scheme, which is due to open at Easter. This fit-out contract follows a number of works that M*van has carried out for the IWM, including previous projects at Duxford, IWM North in Manchester and the Montgomery Gallery at IWM London.
