Attractions proposed for coin designs
Stonehenge and the London Eye are among six attractions which could feature on the back of UK coinage.
Images of the attractions – which also include the Eden Project, Tower of London, Edinburgh Castle and Ironbridge Gorge – have been submitted to the Royal Mint’s open competition as potential new designs for the reverse of coins from the penny to the fifty pence piece.
The six attractions were nominated by delegates at the recent VAC2005 conference in London, which attracted more than 350 attendees from all industry sectors.
Ken Robinson, chair of the Visitor Attractions Forum, said: “This is a great opportunity for the Royal Mint to show its support for our attractions and the UK’s tourism industry.” Details: www.vac2005.co.uk
