Attractions urged to promote Scottish produce
Representatives from more than 50 Scottish tourist attractions have met to explore how promoting the country's food and drink produce can enhance visitor experience.
The Glasgow event, organised by the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions, has been backed by the Scottish Government and aims to increase awareness of the benefits of using locally-sourced produce. Scottish rural affairs secretary Richard Lochhead said: "Many visitor attractions showcase Scotland's produce, but many others could do a lot more to celebrate and offer our famous dishes to visitors from home and abroad.
"According to VisitScotland, food and drink accounts for 21 per cent of tourist spend in Scotland, equating to £700m generated in 20,000 tourism outlets. There is clearly potential to bring them a true taste of Scotland - and ensure that they come back for more"
