Ayurveda University planned for Himachal Pradesh
The regional government of Himachal Pradesh in India is planning to set up an ayurveda university in the state.
The plans are part of the government's plans to invest Rs480m (£6.6m, US$10.6m, €7.8m) in developing the region's infrastructure around ayurvedic medicine facilities and to establish the state as a leading region for spa and medical tourism.
There are currently 300 ayurvedic health centres in the northern Indian state.
The plans were announced by professor Prem Kumar Dhumal during his inaugural address at the 'Aarogya Mela' being organised by Aayush Department, Government of India and the ayurveda department of the state.
Dhumal added that ayurveda would be a funding priority for the state government due to its increasing popularity both in India and abroad.
