BBC HQ to be turned into luxury hotel
The former headquarters of BBC Scotland is to be turned into a 85-room boutique hotel.
The development of the 5.3 acre site at Queen Margaret Drive in Glasgow is being driven by QMD Hotels, a joint venture between Edinburgh-based property investment company Esk Properties and Blackrock International Land, an Irish property company.
Demolition of the existing buildings on the site is due to begin by May and the new hotel is expected to be completed by 2011.
The developers have appointed Christie + Co to search for a high-end hotel operator to manage the site.
