BDL secures £6.5m to build and operate Shetland Islands hotel
BDL Management has secured a £6.5m funding package from the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) towards the development and operation of a new hotel in the Shetland Islands.
RBS' Corporate and Institutional Banking arm has provided the funding, with the new hotel to be located in Brae. BDL's management contract will last 10 years.
It is expected the 100-bedroom property will primarily accommodate workers on a new gas project off the west coast of the islands, which will ensure high occupancy rates.
BDL Shetland vice chair Stuart McCaffer said: "We are delighted to have been awarded this contract to build a new hotel on Shetland, which will be a fantastic addition to our portfolio."
