BHA Centenary Dinner celebrates 100 years of success
This year the BHA has proudly celebrated 100 years of service to the hospitality industry.
With a series of special events toasting the occasion already held around the UK, the celebrations culminated on Thursday, 22 November 2007 with a spectacular dinner at The Locarno Suite of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, London.
The Foreign Office, designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, was an exquisite venue to mark such an auspicious occasion.
Guests enjoyed a champagne reception and a sumptuous five-course menu which highlighted the best produce from the United Kingdom.
The dinner, which featured Donegal crab cake, haggis and Scottish skirted mushroom tortellini, slow braised Welsh shoulder of lamb, British cheeses and English coxes orange pippins was an exceptional treat for the taste buds and was kindly sponsored by BHA members, Directors Table and Sodexho.
Other sponsors on the night included Well-Dressed Tables, Steelite, Louis Roederer, Boutinot wines, Carrington Brown Flowers and Smart Candle.
Chief executive of the BHA, Bob Cotton OBE, welcomed guests to the occasion and highlighted the many successes of the BHA, large and small, during the last 100 years.
“What have we achieved in the last 100 years? The answer is a great deal. There have been many small successes – too numerous to mention here – in persuading government that one course of action, or another, would be detrimental to the industry and to the economy as a whole. “
Sir David Michels, president of the association spoke of the next 100 years and the important work still to be done by the BHA to ensure the industry continues to achieve and build on the excellent results it has already accomplished.
The BHA looks forward to working for and on behalf of the industry over the next 100 years and wishes them to be just as, if not more, successful.
