BISL calls for Triennial Review reinstatement
Business in Sport and Leisure (BISL) has called on both the government and the Gambling Commission to reintroduce the Triennial Review and to offer more support to the sector.
In a submission to the Culture, Media and Sport Committee's inquiry into gambling and the Gambling Act, BISL said the review would provide a means to regulate gaming machines. Meanwhile, BISL - the strategic body representing the private sector in the sports industry - said the government and Gambling Commission had not supported the sector enough.
BISL chief executive Dominic Harrison said: "Machines have often been made the scapegoat in terms of political discord and action despite there being no evidence of them causing a disproportionate amount of harm "The removal of Section 16 and Section 21 type products, for example, was not evidence-based, and had a significant impact on commercial venues."
