Leisure operator, BPL has been shortlisted in the 3rd annual Members Choice Health Club Awards in partnership with Health Club Management.

The unique scheme measures the quality of facilities, customer service and value for money provided by clubs by asking members to rate them by completing an online questionnaire.   Over 40,000 members voted in this year's competition.

BPL doesn't just have one location nominated as four sites have been put forward for the awards. Bircotes Leisure Centre and the Metrodome Leisure Complex have been shortlisted for the awards alongside the Fitness Flex gyms in Doncaster and Pontefract.

Simon Brown who runs the competition explains; "Belonging to a good health club is a rewarding experience.  Members probably spend more time there than they realise and it's become an integral part of their lifestyle.  For the club it's not easy to get every aspect just right.  It requires a lot of hard work and a belief that members should have a rewarding experience every time they visit.  The Members Choice Health Club Awards are designed to find out which clubs are providing the most rewarding experience by asking members to rate their club."

"Only 170 clubs across the UK have reached the shortlist stage of the competition and every single one of them should be extremely proud of that fact.  There's no better endorsement for a club than from the customers that are using the facilities on a regular basis and that says a huge amount about the way these clubs are run".

On September 24th the regionally gold, silver and bronze winners will be announced along with the best chains and the individual Grand Prix awards for Best Club in the UK.  The awards will take place at the National Motorcycle Museum Birmingham.

Tim Wilson, BPL Chief Executive said: "We are very proud of the level of service we provide all our customers and absolutely delighted to have made the shortlist for this prestigious award scheme for four of our leisure centres.  We believe we offer excellent value for money and always put the customer first."

Last year Barnsley Metrodome won the prestigious ‘Local Authority/Leisure Trust Gym of the Year' at the 2012 National Fitness Awards and this year gained the IIP Gold Award.

Last month also saw the Barnsley Metrodome being a finalist at the UK Active & Matrix Flame Awards 2013.  The Metrodome was nominated for the ‘Leisure Centre of the Year' at the awards, beating off more than a hundred other leisure centre entries.
