BUCS announces new PwC partnership
British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS), the national organisation for university sport, has secured a three-year partnership with the global professional services firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
The first year of the new agreement will see BUCS and PwC working together to deliver a series of workshops at 10 institutions across the UK, which aim to target the skills and attributes that students gain through playing or managing sport. A new initiative - Skills through Sport - has been designed to build on skills common to both sport and the workplace to improve students' chances of getting a job, including teamwork, leadership and motivation.
BUCS chair Ed Smith said: "With PwC's experience and expertise we believe we will help our student athletes compete - not just in sport - but in their future employment searches." James Chalmers, PwC's head of strategy and talent, added: "Talented people know that to stand out in the jobs market requires more than just academic achievement alone. We've long recognised that people develop and improve their skills both in work and out of it, and that's why we've partnered with BUCS this year."
The agreement will also see PwC handed exclusive sponsorship rights to two BUCS sports - Rowing and Hockey, as well as the annual BUCS Ball.
