Bahrain racecourse gets underway
The foundation stone has been laid for the £96.5m Formula One racecourse track at Sakhir, Bahrain.
The kingdom will host the race in 2004, becoming the first Arab country to do so. The purpose-built track is being designed by German circuit architect, Hermann Tilke, who was responsible for the recent alterations at the Hockenheim track in Germany. Lakeshore Athletic club to hit Colorado The Chicago-based Lakeshore Athletic Club launches in Colorado next year when a $25m centre opens in Broomfield.
Construction of the 150,000sq ft Lakeshore Athletic Club-Flatiron, started in August and is due to complete in 2003 in time for an October opening. The centre will feature a Waves Day Spa spa, a health and fitness gym, basketball courts, in- and outdoor pools, rooftop tennis courts and a restaurant and bar.
Kidshore, a club specially designed for children's fitness and lifestyle needs will offer a kids gym, outdoor playground and water park, rock climbing lessons, a games room, party room, a study room with computers and summer camps. Details: www.lsac.com
