Balinese mythology and dragons inspire tropical Anantara retreat launching in 2027
Luxury hotel and spa operator Anantara Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement to manage a new-build resort, spa and branded residences on the black volcanic shores of Bali’s Seseh Beach.
Opening in 2027, Anantara Dragon Seseh Bali Resort will have a striking design created by British architect John Dawes and inspired by the Barong of Bali – a dragon-like guardian from Balinese mythology. The 216-key oceanfront destination is being developed by Taryan Group, a Bali-based real estate and development company which also owns the property.
Aligned with Anantara’s holistic luxury ethos, the resort will emphasise the importance of wellness with a signature Anantara Spa, yoga and meditation studios, a modern fitness centre, an on-site surf school and three infinity pools.
“Global travellers cannot get enough of Bali as arrivals grow well past pre-pandemic levels,” said Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Anantara's parent company Minor Hotels and group CEO of Minor International.
“Today’s travellers continue to look for new ways to appreciate Bali’s rich heritage and the island’s diverse experiences. We look forward to partnering with Taryan Group to show travellers why Seseh Beach is Bali’s next hotspot by offering guests unforgettable experiences on the island.”
Residences will be available for purchase through Taryan Group, with Anantara providing overall resort management.
The resort will also offer three distinct dining outlets and mark the fourth Anantara property in Bali.
In September, Minor Hotels will further expand Anantara’s presence on the Indonesian island with the opening of Anantara Ubud Bali Resort. Nestled amid tropical jungle and rice fields, Anantara Ubud Bali Resort will be home to 66 suites and pool villas, 15 Anantara-branded residences and a luxury four-treatment-room spa equipped with a VIP treatment suite, relaxation spaces, a steamroom, a sauna and a salon and nail bar.
