The Bannatyne Group has teamed up with Becky Adlington’s SwimStars to offer children the chance to learn to swim.

Clubs in Livingston, Stepps, Dumfries and Perth in Scotland, as well as Chester-le-Street, Carlisle and York in England, are offering the classes.

Children of both Bannatyne members and their family and friends can join classes, which are open to youngsters aged 3-11.

SwimStars has been teaching children since 2013 and has more than 8,000 youngsters on their core programme every week, as well as 2,000 school children attending weekly swimming lessons.

Alongside teaching the fundamentals of swimming, moving onto stroke development and stamina practices, the programme emphasises values such as respect, friendship, determination, excellence and courage.

Adlington won two Olympic gold medals in 2008.
